Born in Belém, in the state of Pará, Brazil, between the 1970s and 1980s, Lambada emerged from a blend of Indigenous, African, and Caribbean influences. It is known for its dynamic energy, expressive movement, and strong cultural roots. As the dance spread and evolved, different interpretations and directions began to take shape. In the 1990s, Brazilian Zouk developed as one of those paths, influenced by Caribbean Zouk music and shaped by dancers exploring new ways of moving, connecting, and interpreting music. While maintaining a clear relationship to Lambada, it introduced distinct techniques, structures, and aesthetics that defined it as its own dance form. This class isn’t just about steps — it’s about understanding where the movement comes from, recognizing its shared history, and dancing with awareness.
